A little formal introduction

Saturday, August 10, 2013

I must of assumed that if you landed on my blog you must know a little about me or what I do...but than it dawned on me that I don't "know" the bloggers I love to follow other than what they've shared with their readers...so here goes nothing.

My name is Kim and currently reside in a lovely little town called Visalia (I am sure you haven't heard of it since most Californian's haven't) but I promise that once you meet the people, try the food (you can't leave town without trying a salad from Bravo Farms or pho & calamari from Pho & Seafood) and realize that the mountains that house the largest trees in the world are only about a 30 minute drive you immediately forget the awful smell of cow poop you smelled upon arriving off highway 99, and you realize Visalia is quiet the little gem...one in which I love to call home.

If you would of asked me while I was in high school what I saw my self doing at the age of 25 I would of answered: Married, probably 2 kids and working in something with architecture/corporate business of sort....and well let me tell ya, I am neither of those 3 things ESPECIALLY anything having to do with architecture, I quickly realized that math and I had a mutual hate relationship.

Today I play barista by day and plan other peoples weddings (and other events) by night and love to dive in creative opportunities...and when I look back at my 'plan' it's quiet comical to me to compare where I thought I would be/'should be' doing to what I am doing and how different it is, but without a doubt I know I am suppose to be where I am at.

Now getting to this place of being satisfied of where life has taken me up until this point wasn't all that easy, but it got easier when I decided to let go of all those 'other plans' for the sake of being more present in what's taking place NOW.

I hope this blog serves as a resource for inspiration rather than comparison...it's super easy to look at the life of others and assume someone else's life is 'funner/greater' (Thanks Instagram) but before you jump to a crazy conclusion about my life or someone else's, know that you ARE where you're suppose to be and if you start pursing life from the position of being content where you're at rather than trying to find contentment through someone else's, life will be a lot more easier and exciting.

Life is also a little more exciting and hilarious when you take a moment for sillyness...I hope you return to find out what else I am up to with Drops Of Honey.

Be ready to fall in love with Joshua Tree...

Friday, June 21, 2013

I could start this post with an apology but I am not, because I am not really sorry...if I were being completely honest getting back into the groove blogging frightens me; In school I pretty much always 'got by' in every english class, my grammar is horrible, and spelling? Let's just say thank God for auto correct and the spelling check button! But you know what, if you're here and reading this, I hope you're here to be inspired and see life's creative opportunities I've been blessed with, I am done hiding in my insecurity and ready to share the things I dream of.

Now, let's get into the details over this super fun Joshua Tree moment that was shared with friends back in January! (I know this is super late) This engagement shoot was shot by the talented Peter Amend, and I was lucky (also helps I am friends with the Bride & Groom) enough to be asked to style their engagement shoot. When I got asked my mind immediately went bananas with ideas/possibilities. Jerrod & Rachel are both creative, outgoing and to really sum them up, they live life VIBRANTLY. Not the kind you get sick of, but the kind that's inspiring, contagious and you hope you share the type of joy/laughter with those you encounter. They're the type of people where you'll find them in the center of the dance circle, loving on the least of the least, serving in some way whether its through physical acts of love or words that speak depths like not many people can do...and both have friends for days! I mean they had 12 people on EACH SIDE for their bridal party! haha

But enough, of my ramblings...oooze over the pictures like I first did when Peter let us see them.

Love the blanket? I kinda went crazy over it, and there's a story behind it. Rachel gifted this blanket to Jerrod when he returned home from a trip to Arizona. She put together a welcome home basket 'Arizona themed' that included this fabulous blanket.

Jerrod and his closes friends always do a desert trip every year, so here is he sharing some of those moments with Rachel as they create some new memories of their own.

Now the story behind who I like to call Bambi, but is known to Jerrod & Rachel by Fonzi is this... when Jerrod & Rachel first began dating Jerrod was traveling quiet a bit so every time he traveled to a new place he would send pictures of Fonzi posed in his new location and send them over to Rachel. Now how cute is that?

Stay tuned for more friends! I've got more up my sleeve...
